I am 5 days out of lap band surgery. I know the salutary process may take weeks--but I am in severe distress..My pain comes in waves(every 20 or 30 seconds) it starts surrounded by my stomach area and goes up into my gone shoulder..This pain is so bad its chin clenching. I am having difficulties sleeping and it hurts sometimes even to breathe..Is this normal..and how long will this concluding?

It may be gas. They fill your abdomen beside air to do the procedure. It takes a while to procure that air out - have you be able to release gas? I'm sure that is what it is but if the backache continues, i would definately see your doctor. Did they give you pain tablets when you were released from the hospital? does that help?
