Is it possible to obtain used to misery?

I've had growing pains or something (I don't remember what it was call exactly) in my knees for a few years. For the first year and a half of this the aching really annoyed me.
However, nowadays my knees hurt just impossible to tell apart but it doesn't bother me at all!!

Have I got used to the affliction? How?
Answers:
Yeah, its like eye contacts, I have giant astigmatism (cant see clearly), and it took me 2 months to get used to them, so a catalyst can build up. My Science teacher have sores all over his body, and when he was diagnosed, he didn't even realize that he be in "so much pain", he was neutralize by it. Pretty strange, huh?
Growing pains occur when one part of the body's anatomy (usually bone) grows faster than the surrounding nouns can accommodate. The growth strains the muscles and tendons, causing the pain. Its roughly the same when you exercise or pull a muscle, lone the pain lasts as long as the surge within growth occurs.

As for why the pain doesn't hurt as much, in attendance are two possible reasons. The first is that the recent surge in bone growth have slowed, which means all the strained muscles and joint and tendons are finally stretched and healed enough to lessen the backache. The second reason is that although your bones may continue to be growing at a sustained rate, it have become 'normalized', which means that your body has readjusted its discomfort receptors to the new standard. Like anything else, if something happens to your body over a long satisfactory period of time, initial intensity is replaced by dull acceptance and an expansion of some sorts within order to accommodate. Eat enough big meal and your stomach will increase. Run enough and your lungs will increase their capacity to fetch oxygen throughout the body. Both pain and pleasure stimulate the same neurons and receptors. If they are constantly human being stimulated, the body builds a tolerance. In the case of pleasure, more pleasure is needed in charge to feel good. In the travel case of pain, more pain is needed surrounded by order for it to require immediate endeavour.

Technically, its never possible to get used to pain, since stomach-ache, by its very definition, is a signal of abnormality sent to your brain in establish to facilitate an action meant to correct it. And the height of pain can always increase, creating a latest threshold and a new length of time in charge to adjust. If I bend your finger, you'll recover in a few minutes. If I strain it, a few days or weeks, and if I break it, a few months. Once you realize and accept what is happening to you, various things can be endured.
Yes, you brain got trained to ignore it. It is tolerance. One man feel pain in his amputated arm. Later, his doctor have to correct his mental state by letting himself in the mirror.
It is widely believed that regular exposure to painful stimuli will increase anguish tolerance - i.e. increase the ability of the individual to handle dull pain by becoming more conditioned to it.
I am clueless. I tend to ignore physical pain pretty powerfully - esp. when my adrenalin's flowing. The mental side's getting better all the time - thank God for antidepressants! It's a devastating thing to fight rotten drug abuse when you think that's the singular way to get your seratonin {which I know I messed up} to work right. It's be almost 2 years, dude, and I'm finally getting myself into a half-way normal life.
Anyhow, I don`t know those new pointy ears have something to do next to your knees {creeeeepy}.

You can bullied up to pain.My little brother had at most minuscule 12 surgeries, an illness. And was surrounded by a full body cast for a year. So when he went to the dentist he have a tooth rotting in his gum. He did not even notice he so use to throbbing. It felt like conceivably he just flossed when the average joe would be like ''coh mt tooth hurts''.
I don't really know ! In 1994 I slipped and tore out three vertebra and four discs, the operated and fused my lower spine, put within a "cage" I found out I had osteoarthritis in the severe stages. It surrounded by turn caused severe neurological damages too. I then go to my cervical spine and three surgeries and two separate stenosis's. Now it been 16 years and I am still in aching that sometimes makes me cry. I am seventy years old, have many upper shots, different types of drugs and now can with the sole purpose afford Vicodin.
I sleep about four hours a night, the agony. I can't be on my feet for more then three or four hours, I can't drive. I am not "used" to the strain, everyday is a new experience in cramp. I am so tired of it, I can only hope that I don't live to long, I can't stand much more of this. I can't poop right, I can't pee right, they're all considered because of the wager on or spine problems. I am even impotent because of it.
Firstly: You enjoy GROWING pains and you're 6"4? You'll pay for this!!

I guess so. Not like completely but it wouldn't be as intolerable as when you initially experienced it?
