Are you any distress killers? If so that may be the cause. It'll evolve, don't worry! Although, it may happen at the worst time possible.
Always drink plenty of wet when you take pain killer for any length of time.
Sounds like you are doing everything you can. But hail as your doctor to be sure.
Also did you have an enema before surgery? If so after not having a bm by now is probably regular. I've only ever had one enema, in the past the birth of my first child, but I think it was at most minuscule a week before I had a bm.
But resembling I said call the doc to be safe.
Physical hustle and bustle is really good for encouraging BM. Make sure you're walking a lot (unless it's foot surgery or something). If you are prepared to drink prune juice - try that. Make sure you're drinking plenty of water. If you're dry - that may show up as hard poop. Some people hold certain foods that cause them to hold diarrhea (apple juice, chocolate, coffee, greasy food). I assume if you had a food that did that to you, you would own tried it already.
Pain medications and immobilization (or lack of exercise) are highest causes of constipation after surgery. Are you taking more pain medication than what you stipulation? If so ease up a little on the backache pills.
It sounds like you've tried most the medications. If you are likely, you might try a suppository form instead of a pill form of colace. Sometimes having the suppository in your rectum is the stimulation that your body wants to get going. Source(s): If you are constipated enough that you are outlook uncomfortable or vomiting - see your doctor. Sometimes people can bring back an ilius after surgery. That's when the constant motion of your bowels stops. Usually it resolves on it's own, but if the bowels (inside your abdomen) aren't moving, nothing comes out and whatever you try to put contained by just sets in your stomach until you achieve sick. If you can't get the situation resolved soon, I would call your doctor. If you agree to constipation go on too long it has the potential to rationale a perforation to your bowel. That would mean surgery and antibiotics at best.
Call your doctor.I don't know what surgery you had...but call your doctor in a minute!
