I got this ingrown toenail. Its not very matured or bad, its red, swollen. Ive been using Hydrogen Peroxide and plan to start soaking it. But if I twirl up having to go to the surgeon, how much will it cost? I don't own health insurance and am really stressing over the situation.

i have mine cut out so much when i was young that it get to the point where i would pull past its sell-by date the whole toenail. THAT was smaller amount painful then needles contained by the toe and cutting cutting.
1. stop cutting or chewing or picking your nails. Let them grow of late past the end of the toe.
2. completely, starting soaks. At least twice a day, surrounded by Epson Salt water (buy it at any drug store).Use as warm the sea as you can. DON'T get burned!! Dry your toe really well, and greatly carefully try to push cotton, (torn off from a cotton bubble or Q-tip) under the edge of the fastener. The purpose is to try to "lift" the nail from the nail bed and stop the inflammation. I used to use a strong toothpick to do this.. Take the cotton out again previously each soaking.
4. IF the toe starts draining pus-like stuff, gets swollen and red, you call for to see the doctor for possible removal and possible antibiotics. Most doctors don't take the whole fastener anymore, just the offending part...You grasp two shots to numb the toe, and the rest is no pain!
The cost really depends on your doctor. Podiatrist's (foot doctors) are specialists and tend to cost more. Family practice doctors are generally smaller number expensive, but check to make sure they will do the surgery if needed. (some don't).
5. IF you have to own part of the toenail removed, have the doctor apply PHENOL to the pin bed, it kills any future fastener growth there, and helps to prevent reoccurence.
6. Good luck! and bring in SURE your shoes are so tight they are causing some of the problem! Lori Source(s): Nurse x 32 years.
Had toenail removals in olden times (been there, done that)

i have them on approaching all my toes... nd im only 12. i get 3 done already. 2 on the same toe nd side bc they didnt put stuff in it to take out the nail the first time nd on my other toe (my 2 big toes) i dont think it costs abundantly
Ingrown toenails are no fun. I suffer from them also. Don't pick at it or try to cut it our by yourself. Put something like neosporin on it and keep it covered beside a bandaid (use bactracin) These are antibiotic ointments. GO TO THE FOOT DR. Be honest and tell them you don't enjoy insurance and they usually can work it out with you , even if you have to gross payments, but don't hesitate to go, It be the best thing that I did. Good Luck
you need to soak your foot within Epson salt.. it is inexpensive and you just make a payment it to very warm dampen or as hot as you can stand it.. soak it everynight.. if you don't need surgery.. and don't have insurance.. this is a much smaller number expensive way to care for it... it will start looking better.. in a minute if it does not get better and it gets worse.. after go to the doctor.. I have kids and own dealt with this.. virtuous luck...
Find someone who has had a ingrown toenail. They can put in the picture you how to get it out. It's no big deal. I hold had many. I know it's distress full. I take my own out no big deal. Source(s): experience
Honestly, from what i know of, its not too expensive and the operation can be relatively quick an painless, its not nearly as big as I deem you're assuming. just get it checked out first by a doctor and see what they give attention to.
should not too be too much money...
